Have you ever considered owning chickens but didn’t want to put time and money into building chicken coops, feeding them, or mucking out their pens?
Our flock share program allows you to own one or more laying hens and receive fresh eggs without the daily chores.
Why a flock share?
There is nothing more delicious or nutritious than farm fresh eggs with their rich and creamy yokes. As one customer put it, “when you’ve eaten fresh eggs, you KNOW you’ve eaten eggs”.
These chickens are raised on our 14 acre farm with free access to all the grass and bugs they want, and then fed scratch grains when they go in at night, as well as table scraps and ground eggshells (for extra calcium). No hormones, additives, or any of that unknown stuff mass producers may give to their flock.
If you want fresh eggs to call your own without the hassle of actually raising the hens, let us raise them for you!
How does it work?
You purchase an unspecified laying hen from our flock on Bucket List Farm. Then, for a small monthly fee, we will provide housing, bedding, feed, water, and daily care for your chicken(s). Your hen(s) will free range with the rest of our flock.
We will gather your eggs daily and store them at or below 45 degrees Fahrenheit until you are ready to collect them, either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Please note; If you would like your eggs kept at room temperature please let us know prior to submitting the agreement.
You may visit your chicken at our farm upon prior arrangement, and if you decide to create space for her at your home, you may do so at any time!
What does it cost?
Your initial purchase of an unspecified hen is $15. This fee is repeated every two years and makes you the official owner of the hen. The hen is “unspecified” so we can manage them as a unified flock. This allows us to ensure that you receive 6 ungraded, truly free-range, fresh eggs each week (as a hen’s laying can vary with the season and her molting period). The boarding fee is $10 per month per hen. You may purchase as many hens as you would like. There are no other costs.
Moving her from the farm:
You may take physical possession of your hen whenever you’d like, but once she leaves our farm, she/they may not return.
However, if you would like to leave the flock share program and your hen remains on our farm, we will assume ownership and allow her to continue living happily in our flock as long as she is healthy!
Please look over the full agreement at the bottom of this page and contact us if you have any questions.
